| I wouldn't be surprised if it was another draw between the Koreans... they don't seem particularl keen to beat each other. |

| I'm watching it now, 0-0 at halftime. Though they do seem to be trying to score. |

North Korea scored after half-time, but it wasn't allowed, the referee/linesman couldn't see the ball had just crossed the line before the keeper "saved" it.
Then South Korea scored in the 88th minute. It was actually a very exciting end-to-end game. |

I also watched the game. I was impressed by the well organized defense of the North Koreans.
It seems that the header of North Korea (their number 12 I think) crossed the goal line, but it was disallowed by the referee.
Australia won Uzbekistan 2-0 and will qualify today in case of draw between Bahrain and Qatar. |

The North Koreans played a sort of 5-4-1 formation, with two wing-backs occasionally going forward. The middle two of the midfield were mostly defensive, leaving the lone striker #12 to be supported occasionally by the two wider midfielders.
The South Koreans played a Dutch-style 4-3-3. |

Don't worry they will qualify easily together with Japan.
The second group is much more difficult. I bet on South Korea and North Korea. I think that the 3rd place team in this group (I bet on Iran) is better than Bahrain/Qatar/Uzbekistan and I think they will qualify too after beating New Zealand. |

I think you have missed out on Saudi Arabia, Yaniv?
I can see Saudi Arabia pipping North Korea to second place in the group. North Korea have to travel to Riyadh in the final game and thats the game which will decide who go's through I predict. South Korea should now go on and come first. _________________ non-FIFA News Agency website:

Yes this is possible. The group is very difficult to predict.
I still think that Iran and North Korea have better chances.
Iran are going to have a new coach now. Many times changing the coach brings a real change.
I can see North Korea playing with 10 defenders in Saudi Arabia and getting the one point that they will need. I saw them against South Korea in Seoul. It took South Korea almost 90 minutes to break their invulnerable defense. |

Well Iran have six points with three games left while North Korea and Saudi Arabia have 10 points with two games left.
Iran have two away games against North Korea and South Korea and a home tie against UAE. North Korea have a home game against Iran and then Play away at Saudi Arabia. While Saudi Arabia play host to North Korea and play South Korea away.
I cant see Iran winning away at either North or South Korea which means they would not qualify even if they did beat UAE. I would say its definately a three way group now as I think Iran and UAE are both out. _________________ non-FIFA News Agency website:

| Do you agree that the third place team in this group will have better chances to qualify than the third place of the other group and New Zealand? |

Today the final round of qualification matches took place. Australia beat Japan 2-1 in front of 70,000 fans to win group A by 5 points. An impressive performance, and shows their decision to switch to AFC was a good one. Japan obviously qualified in second spot, and Bahrain took the third (and playoff) spot after a 1-0 win over Uzbekistan. The Uzbeks could only catch Bahrain on goal difference.
In group B North Korea played a defensive game in Saudi Arabia and it worked. The 0-0 draw means they have qualified for their second world cup, quite a surprise too. The Saudi's take third place after missing out on second on goal difference to the North Koreans. Iran drew 1-1 at group winners South Korea, but it was not enough. They come fourth with 11 points, interestingly more than the third placed side in group A Bahrain, who had 9.
Australia 2-1 Japan
Bahrain 1-0 Uzbekistan
Saudi Arabia 0-0 North Korea
South Korea 1-1 Iran
Australia, South Korea, Japan & North Korea qualify. Bahrain play Saudi Arabia over two legs, with the winner facing New Zealand. |

Well we will have a new team or an unfamiliar team at these World Cup Finals after Bahrain beat Saudi Arabia for the right to play New Zealand.
I Personally hope New Zealand win through. _________________ A Chelmsford City Fan |
