As far as I am aware, the last São Tomé participation in any event was in 2002 (lost 5-0 and 6-2 to Angola in the African U-17 Championship). So, for the last 7 years, there have been mno participation of any national teams at all. Also, their clubs do not appear to play in African competitions.
So, has all the money went on infrastructure? On developing the national stadium (of 6,500 capacity)? I'm not sure this is true. And I am also not sure that running the domestic competitions would cost so much money. Consider also, that in 4 of the last 7 years, the country has had no national championship. So, where is all the money going? |

can they play in annual CEMAC Cup ?
(another country is DR Congo, but they have enough friendlies) |
I don't think STP and DRC are members of CEMAC, at least not FULL members.
From Wikipedia....
"CEMAC... is an organization of states of Central Africa established by Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon to promote economic integration among countries that share a common currency, the CFA franc"
STP and DRC do not use the CFA Franc (Dobra and Congolese Franc respectively). |
