Malawi-Mozambique 0:1.
Is the tournament restricted to domestic players only? Looks this way from the line-ups. |

No , it is not restricted to domestic players , but when on a NON FIFA match dates , they cant play with European based players . Mostly homebased players , but some may have a few players from other African countries. |

Malawi 0-1 Mozambique was the half-time score only, not full-time - the COSAFA site had connection difficulties with Zimbabwe, so there were no updates on the 2nd half.
Other result today - Zambia 1-0 Namibia
Not sure what the full-time score was in the Malawi v Mozambique match... |

Great - didn't see that! So, Zambia v Mozambique in the semi-final.
In the remaining matches, Zimbabwe should beat Botswana tomorrow, but not sure who will win the other quarter-final (South Africa Development XI v Angola U-20) |

Hosts Zimbabwe are through to the final of Southern Africa's Cosafa Senior Challenge after defeating South Africa in a penalty shoot-out on Wednesday.
The Warriors won the game in Harare 3-2 on penalties after the match had ended 1-1.
Zimbabwe will contest Sunday's final against Zambia or Mozambique, who play their semi final game in Bulawayo on Thursday.
South Africa went ahead on 38 minutes when Lennox Bacela scored from close range after running in from a free-kick with the Warriors defence standing still.
Zimbabwe launched attack after attack in a pulsating second half, but South Africa almost doubled their lead on 53 minutes, with Edmore Sibanda making a great save from George Lebese.
A minute later the Warriors equalised when striker Phillip Marufu stabbed home after some poor defending.
In the shoot-out South Africa missed their first two penalties and Keamohetse Wolff blasted their final kick over the bar to give Zimbabwe victory.
The crowd of 25,000 celebrated as the Warriors will be back for the final on Sunday.
South Africa were fielding a developmental side of young locally-based players.

Good win for Zimbabwe. However, the hosts apparently changed the schedule for the semi-finals AFTER the original draw was released. Zimbabwe were due to have played Zambia, while South Africa should have played Mozambique. However, South Africa were apparently seen as an easier opponent because they brought their development team.
Strangely, the semi-finals seem to have been played in the "wrong" order - Zimbabwe and South Africa both had 1 day of rest before their semi, while Mozambique and Zambia both had 3 days. If they had played in the opposite order, all 4 teams would have had an equal 2 days rest in between their quarter-final and semi-final matches. It did mean, however, that Zimbabwe had an extra day of rest over Zambia before the final...... |

| I checked the original schedule and South Africa/Angola were to play winners from first round. Does seem odd though that order was preferred. |
